Just heard from Matt who has spent the morning with Beth at the hospital. After a very parched day yesterday (no fluids for hours before surgery) she has been given gingerale this morning, and Matt said she was really loving it and was on her second small can. The joy in small pleasures! She is more alert today and more able to stay with her thoughts. The doc said her lung is inflating a little better and a couple of PTs came through and had her sit up, lift her legs a bit, and take some deep breaths. Baby steps all the way. Matt said they are doing a great job in managing her pain and staying on top of it.
I know I asked for someone to cover Wednesday night, but since she is having a long surgery tomorrow--clavicle and ankle--Matt thinks it best if we cover Thursday night instead. If anyone would like to do that, please post a comment to that effect.
Beth wants everyone to know that she is extremely touched by the outpouring of love and support that has come her way these last couple of days. She is feeling very held and very blessed, so keep your intentions and your thoughts flowing her way.
I will be visiting her tonight and will update you on her condition and the plan for surgery after that. It is such a blue-true-dream-of-sky day in Boulder today--I can't wait for her to be able to get outside and feel the sun on her face again.
Thanks again for setting this up; I'm very happy to be kept informed. Technology often works great.
ReplyDeleteOur health care system is seriously messed up, but if you are broken, this is the place you want to be; they really know how to fix you. She's in good hands.
Beth is an independent small business owner - does she have insurance?
Beth, What a bummer! I know it doesn't feel like it right now, but you will heal. I'll take you hiking up Sanitas when you can just like you did for me a few years ago. Sending many healing prayers and lots of love your way. Janet McCabe
ReplyDeleteGood Q, Buzz. Not sure what that situation is. I know she carries health insurance but not sure what else on the business side. A group of us are meeting to try to cover some big ticket items for the next few weeks--I'll add it to the list, see what I can find out.
