A Girl We Know and Love... in Her Favorite Place to Be

  1. Oh Man, Beth, I am glad to hear you will now start the healing process, with surgeries behind you, and nothing but brighter roads ahead; with all the strength inside of you and the love that's around you carrying you through when it feels too heavy.

Who'd have thought that a little swim lesson would have taught me so much about fear, strength within, self-awareness, and humility. Your gentle spirit really made a mark on me. Haven't spoken to or seen you in over a year and then suddenly a week or so ago, I was telling my friend all about you, and commented that you are fierce but in a soft kind of way. Then, bam, your accident. Heart sank to stomach thinking of you in pain. I am really thinking of you many times each day and channeling some loving energy your way for a speedy and full recovery. Keep that chin up, lean on others, and know the beautiful outdoors (our little playground we call the Rocky Mountains) awaits your presence.

Don't know if you've ever read any Viktor Frankl, but if you need books while you are recovering, not much more inspiration can come out of paper pages than his words. And of course our physical challenges force us to look inside for tune-ups and someone like you will take full advantage of that. When you are through this, you will be stronger...fuller...though you probably can't get sweeter. Hang in there.

  4. Beth,
I just learned of your climbing accident and I am very saddened by it. I know you will eventually overcome this setback and be back at it. In the meantime please be patient and let yourself heal. My prayers are with you during this trying time.

  5. TO BETH: I HATE that this nasty thing happened and that you are so busted up. I LIKE that you have lots of folks nearby who care about you. I LOVE that you are making progress. I KNOW that you will use all your fitness, spirit, and physical/mental/emotional strengths to do what you need to do to get better. I'm thinking about you all the time (when I'm not thinking about reducing my stroke count)!
TO LINDA: Thanks so much for keeping everyone so well informed. Drop me an email at prussell@gwtc.net if you get a chance. We recently had a serious family illness and I could share with you some of the logistic resources that we found helpful.
